Transport and the benfits of it
Due to greater developments in tecnology, transport has become faster, more cost affective and easier to use. 150 years ago years ago the fastest transport was horse and cart and sailing ship. These days we can board a plane and fly to other side of the world and it only takes 24 hours. This has had a major affect on the tourist industry with more people travelling to further destinations than before. Technology has also had a huge impact on ocean shipping making the process faster and more efficient. There are two main technologies that have accerlatered the process of ocean shipping. The first one is the invention of super tankers which are big bulk ships that carry products such as oil, coal and wheat. the second major invention was containerisation. products including food are packed into massive containers at the factory. then loaded on to a train or truck and taken to the loading docks and loaded onto hude container ships and shipped off to other countries. Most products today are transported around the world by ocean shipping. without these types of transport globalisation wouldn't be possible.
Transnational Corpornations
TNC which stands for Transnational Corpornations are big companies that trade and sell or place their stores internationally. An example of TNC is Nike a global athletic footwear and sport wear brand. Nike manufactures their products in developing countries because of low cost labour. They then sell their products in more devoped and richer countries to make a big profit. Although this is a smart idea many people debate that TNCs are ripping off poor countries. So are TNCs bad or good?
